Blog & Review Tour for The Resurrection Project by Tanya Sparks Belvin

The Resurrection Project JustRead Blog Tour

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for The Resurrection Project by Tanya Sparks Belvin, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

About the Book

Title: The Resurrection Project

Series: The Resurrection Project Series #1
Author: Tanya Sparks Belvin
Publisher: Tonya Belvin Publishing
Release Date: September 11, 2023
Genre: Christian Futuristic, Medical Mystery

In 2034, medical student Ellen McCarthy took an internship at the mysterious Grindland Institute to fulfill a graduation requirement. But what at first seems like a boring job supervising children soon has her tangled in questions about the Institute’s Resurrection Project. Meanwhile, ER nurse Mamie Simpson is grieving the loss of her daughter, Lainey, and hoping against hope that a new scientific breakthrough will provide a miracle for her and her husband. When Ellen and Mamie's paths eventually cross, both will have to take steps of faith and courage they didn’t think possible to help save the life of a special little girl.

Excerpt:

I stood in the doorway of the cafeteria staring at L2 as she finished her cup of blueberries and
steel-cut oats with eight ounces of skim milk. The Grindland Institute, located in Chapel Hill,
North Carolina, provided its subjects with superfood choices given in precise portions to meet
the exact nutritional requirements for ultimate sustenance and growth. L2’s shoulder-
length chestnut hair glistened like the stainless steel throughout the cafeteria’s antiseptic side.
This area was reserved for the residents of Grindland’s Resurrection Project.

The six-year-old’s white top, knee-length khaki shorts, and specially-designed blue and white
athletic shoes, fit her small frame perfectly. As I observed her, I couldn’t stop thinking that she
was much too young to be so independent. Already accustomed to her daily schedule filled with
physical and academic requirements, L2 was still too short to sit on the bench and have her
feet  touch the ground.

A natural-born music aficionado, L2 always seemed to have a private music channel continually
playing in her mind. As I watched, L2’s tiny fingers started drumming a beat on the table, and
she began singing her favorite song, “Little Liza Jane.”

Excerpt

Ben couldn’t help himself. He’d been gone for weeks and missed Marianna like crazy. He stood on the dirt road outside her family’s house. It was a new moon, which wasn’t visible in the night sky. Instead, the stars sparkled like fistfuls of diamonds tossed on a black velvet fabric.
Shifting from side to side and kicking up dirt and gravel from the road, Ben contemplated if he should sneak to her window just to see her beautiful face, even for ten minutes. The house looked quiet, and he guessed that the rest of her family had already fallen asleep. But didn’t she say she often stayed up to read or write in her journal? Seeing the joy on her face was worth the risk when she realized he’d come home a day early.
He slowly walked toward the house by the light from his cell phone, realizing for the first time how loud walking on pine cones could be. Ben strained to see if there was any sign of lantern or candlelight—evidence that she was awake. Hopefully, Trapper wouldn’t hear him and bark, waking everyone up.
Step by step, he made his way to the side of the house toward her downstairs bedroom window. He felt like a teenager again, parking his truck down the road to sneak into his girlfriend’s house. Yet this wasn’t just a girlfriend. This was his fiancée, soon to be his wife.
His smile widened even as he hunched down under the window. He was about to reach his hand to tap on the window, but his cell phone chimed its familiar tune. Ben jumped and stood erect. He’d forgotten to put his phone on silent, and at the moment, the chiming sounded as loud as a shotgun going off in the night. Ben quickly shut off the ringing and stood as still as possible.
“Marianna.” His voice was just louder than a whisper, but even through the closed curtains he could see no light was on. She must be fast asleep. Trapper too. He tapped the window as softly as he could. No response. He considered tapping louder, but Ben knew that would wake Trapper. He’d just have to content himself with seeing Marianna’s beautiful face tonight in his dreams instead of in person.

Expired Return

About the Book

Title: Expired Return
Series: Last Chance Fire and Rescue #1
Author: Lisa Phillips
Publisher: Sunrise Publishing
Release Date: January 31, 2023
Genre: Christian Romantic Suspense
She'll give everything to protect her family.
He always knew she was the one.

Veterinary tech Pepper Miller lives a quiet life in Last Chance County. She's watching her niece until her sister shows up…if she ever does. When Victory's father demands he take over her care, Pepper knows something has gone wrong. With a new drug in town, and her sister embroiled in a dangerous bargain, it's up to Pepper to protect the people she loves.

Even if it costs every secret she's ever kept.

Fire Department liaison Allen Frees lives with the injuries he sustained as a police officer in a raid gone
wrong. He's put his life back together but getting the truck crew and engine squad to succeed might be
his toughest assignment yet. When Victory is nearly kidnapped at a community event, Allen steps in to
help Pepper keep her niece safe. The one thing he couldn't fix was the love he lost, but he isn't going to
let Pepper walk away this time.

No matter what walls he has to break down.

Last Chance County returns in this blazing new series from Sunrise Publishing.

Excerpt:

“Anyway, I might have something for you to look into. So give me a call back.” Allen
tapped the dash screen and ended the call to Tate, where he’d left the local private
investigator a message. Maybe his friend could help Pepper. It certainly wasn’t in Allen’s
purview as the City Hall liaison to the fire department.

He shoved the truck into park and let out a long sigh.

I have to go. And wasn’t that the truth? The woman did nothing but try to get away from him.

Instead of letting that go around and around in his mind, Allen shoved the door open. He
moved his seat back and dragged the folded wheelchair across his body. He set it down on the
ground beside his vehicle.
In the process, he got the thing mostly unfolded. Enough he could sit in it.
Allen shifted his body to the edge of the seat and clasped the tether that hung from the
grab handle. He braced his foot and lowered himself hand over hand using the rope knots, so
he didn’t fall too fast.
He’d learned that one the hard way.
He grabbed the last knot and lowered his butt into the chair. Shifted his foot. The otherfoot. Shut the door. Clicked his keys.
Done.
He thanked God every chance he got that he’d managed to figure this process out—with
some modifications to his truck so it was drivable for him. People had tried to tell him the
process was too convoluted or that someone with a disability like his couldn’t drive anything
but a van—as if—or a tiny car. Barf. Well, they could quite frankly pry this truck from his
cold dead hands. Or bury him in it.

Author Izzy James Q&A

Me:  Where did you get your inspiration for "Max"?

Izzy:  I was walking through Yorktown. I love that place. As I passed Thomas Nelson’s house I could almost see him and his wife having tea in their garden. “And what would you think of us now, Mr. Nelson?” I thought. And the story was born.

Me:  Whose character was easier to write, Max or Olivia's?

Izzy:  Max. It’s not always true that the male character is easier to write, but this time he was. He stepped into being for me that day in Yorktown.

Me:  What advice would you give to an aspiring author of writing time travel?

Izzy:  Research a lot. Use primary sources and don’t rely on what you’ve seen in movies.

Me:  Who do you relate to most, Olivia or Max?

Izzy:  I relate to both of them, but if I have to choose, probably Olivia. As a general rule I don’t have Max’s confidence. Olivia’s path has had some serious rocks in it and she perseveres. I am like that. Life is not perfect, and yet, I have so much to be thankful for.

Me:  Would you say you're a history buff and do you plan on writing more historical fiction?

Izzy:  I am a huge history fan. Living where I do, in coastal Virginia, I don’t know how I could have escaped it! J  I write mostly historical fiction. My series starting with The Shopkeeper’s Widow and the Yorktown series all take place in coastal Virginia during the 1770s.

Me:  What is bringing you joy today?

Izzy:  The fresh cold weather. The sunlight as it glints off the water outside my window. The warmth of the tea in my cup. The knowing that I am not alone because the King of the Universe has allowed me to be His.
